Evening guys and girls!
It seems these days everybody wants to be either a bodybuilder or weightlifter but what we need to remember there is a massive difference between both and often being confused about which one you should or want to be can lead to a lack of progress in either! Let’s look briefly at weightlifting… the objective here is to move a weight from A to B and how this is achieved can and usually is through explosive movements and motion. Now let’s look at bodybuilding, our objective here is to contract muscles; so on contrary to weightlifting motion and any explosive movement is in fact the enemy and actually diminishes greatly the results that we are trying to achieve. I realise as human beings we all have some ego at some level, but if you really want to increase the success of your muscle growth during your workouts it’s time to leave the ego at the gym door, step inside and focus on squeezing those muscles. Now I’m not saying lifting heavy isn’t important but most human beings actually have more muscle fibres that respond to higher rep ranges than lower rep ranges in our body, so if your goal is a more muscular physique and you are more interested in building a purely aesthetic and attractive physique you really need be hitting those deep fibres. The point here is never substitute form for weight, lift as heavy as your body allows you to while maintaining correct body position and eliminating all motion from the movement!
Good luck and go make some gains!
